Basic Training Orientation
This workshop will explore the common dog training and behavior issues and myths.  Does your dog do things out of spite?  Will a friendly puppy become a friendly dog?  How do you stop a dog from demanding attention?  After this interactive hour, you will better understand the way your dog thinks and be better equipped to deal with unwanted behaviors.

Speaking Dog As a Second Language

They say a picture is worth a thousands words.  In a dog's case, it's almost always true.  Since dogs aren't equipped to form words, the only thing they have to speak with are their limited vocalizations, like barks and whines, and their bodies.   They communicate to other dogs almost totally with body language.  And they attempt to communicate the same way with us, but are so often misunderstood.  Dogs use their ears, tails, jaws, eyes, legs, sides, every part of their bodies to speak.  And a wagging tail does not always mean a dog is happy!  If you would like to learn how to communicate more fluently with your best friend, this workshop will show you how.

Quick Tricks
Want to teach your dog to wave, bow, crawl, or other cute tricks?  The material in this workshop will depend on each participating dog/owner team's level of training and interests.  In any case, you will leave this workshop with a couple of new tricks and probably some new knowledge about training techniques.

Come Come COME HERE!!!
Not only is it frustrating to watch your dog ignore your calls, it's dangerous!  Maybe he comes when called in the house, but what if he's outside chasing a squirrel?  This workshop will focus on ways to teach your dog that the word COME is his favorite cue in the whole world, and worth leaving anything to respond.

Walking on Leash
Many people are very happy with their dogs' behavior except for one thing - put on the leash and take her outside, and you go flying!  It's easy to teach a dog to sit.  She already knows how to sit, you're only attaching a cue to it.  But it's not easy for a dog to understand the concept of walking beside you without criss-crossing around your legs or lunging ahead.  The focus of this workshop is to teach both you and your dog the dance steps of walking together harmoniously and willingly.

Barking Me Crazy
Does your dog bark?  Good, that's what dogs are supposed to do.  But does your dog bark for attention, or at inappropriate times, or go on and on and on until you're ready to stick a pencil in your ears?  This workshop explores all the different reasons that dogs bark and how to best deal with each individual type of barking issue.  Your neighbors will be glad you attended!

How and Why to Clicker-Train
Animals at Sea World are not trained by putting a treat on their nose and luring them into position; neither are they trained by force with choke or prong collars.  Imagine trying to force a killer whale to perform a behavior!  They are trained the same way that zoo animals learn to peacefully and happily offer their claws to be trimmed through their cage bars.  Clicker-training!  They may not use an actual clicker, but it's the exact same methodology - marking a behavior with a specific sound so that the animal learns to repeat it for a reward.  Training dogs using this method has been quickly gaining popularity over the last decade, and for good reason.  This workshop will introduce you to the magic of clicker-training... but be careful, it's addicting!
