This class is for puppies aged 8 weeks to 6 months. (Older smaller breed puppies may attend if they are well-socialized with other dogs - please call Leah at 407-288-6176 or e-mail to discuss). The focus of this class is to build a strong bond of communication, trust and respect between puppies and their owners, establish a foundation of socialization, and teach basic behavior skills.

New Puppy Orientation Workshop Wednesday, June 5 at 6:00 pm This workshop will teach you how to potty train your puppy in the quickest, easiest and most humane way. We will explore how a dog learns when to eliminate, at what age he has the control to avoid frequent accidents, what cleaning solutions work best on the messes, how his feeding schedule can impact his potty training, and much more. We will also talk about other common puppy/adolescent issues such as crating, nipping, chewing, jumping and barking. Bring puppies for play session. FREE but pre-registration is required. BASIC MANNERS CLASS
This class is for older puppies and dogs who have had no previous training or who need a refresher in basic manners. The behaviors we will cover include polite greetings without jumping, walking on leash without pulling, coming when called, and other skills that will help your dog become a more well-behaved member of your family.

Developed for graduates of Puppy Kindergarten or Basic Manners (or dogs with similar skills), this class takes the basics they've learned and adds the "Three D's" - distractions, duration and distance - in order to ensure reliability of behaviors in more difficult environments.

LOOSE-LEASH WALKING WORKSHOP
Monthly one-hour session to practice walking on a loose leash without pulling. Great for beginners, dogs who need a refresher, or those who want to hone their walking skills. PET STAR TRICKS CLASS
Teach your dog to bow, crawl, wave, roll over, play dead, and many other adorable and fun tricks. Or chain known tricks together to build a routine! Curriculum is crafted to fit each individual participant. What would you like to do? What is your dog best suited to do? Great way to work with your dog and strengthen your bond of communication while you have fun.

SNIFF 'N SEEK CLASS LEVEL 1
If your dog has a nose, he's a candidate for our Sniff 'n Seek Class! A dog's sense of smell is thousands of times more sensitive than that of a human. Dogs learn to systematically search boxes and other objects for hidden food. The level of difficulty increases each week, and it is fascinating to watch the dogs catch scent and make a find. This popular dog sport enables you to wear your dog out mentally, so it is ideal for active dogs, dogs with physical limitations, or anyone who just wants to play a fun game with their dog. It's also a great way to boost the confidence of shy dogs. No previous obedience training required. See the video of Sniff 'n Seek!

CANINE GOOD CITIZEN (CGC) CLASS
The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Certificate was developed in 1989 by the American Kennel Club to reward responsible dog owners for teaching their dogs good manners. In some regions this certificate is recognized by some insurance companies as an asset for gaining insurance for certain breeds otherwise not covered, and also can be helpful when trying to rent housing that doesn't allow dogs, or restricts dogs of certain sizes or breeds. The CGC Certificate is also generally recognized as the first step in preparing to train a therapy dog.
The first 5 weeks of this class will prepare your dog for the 10-part test. On week 6, a representative of the AKC will come in to administer the test and present the dogs who pass with paperwork that the owners can then send in to the AKC to request their certificates. (If your dog does not pass the test after attending the class, you can repeat the next class free of charge!)
$180 for class/additional $15 on the day of the test for the AKC rep fee

DOWNTOWN HOUNDS PROGRAM
If your dog has graduated an Intermediate class or the equivalent, this is the next step. We take it "on the road" to practice behaviors in real-life situations, with real-life distractions. Take a walk by the river while birds flock all around; stroll down a busy street past people with their dogs on leash; sit at an outdoor cafe; go into a dog wash/bakery in close quarters with strange dogs and interesting smells; lots of opportunities to strengthen the reliability of behaviors your dog learned in the classroom.
This is a drop-in class. You come to whichever session or sessions fit your schedule. If you would like to participate, just e-mail Leah at least 24 hours before the scheduled class to register. Payment of $25 per session can be made by cash or check on site.
Classes are held on Sundays, and we meet at 1:00 pm at the corner of 1st St. and Palmetto in downtown Sanford. Be prepared for a leisurely, fun afternoon ending with a visit to one of the several outdoor dog-friendly cafes.

One hour of supervised play-time. Great for socializing young puppies and allowing older puppies or dogs who are already sociable the opportunity for play dates in a safe environment. Puppies may enroll up to 5 months old. Older puppies or adult dogs must be evaluated by a trainer for social skills before enrolling.
